Following the discovery of an outbreak of avian influenza at a neighbouring chicken farm in February, Defra have today advised of a precautionary cull of ducks on a farm near Diss, Norfolk.

The precautionary cull of ducks will take place over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of March. There is not and has not been any outbreak of AI in the flock. This is a precautionary measure only, as Defra consider the farm to have potential for dangerous contact with the infected neighbouring farm.

The health of our birds remains the priority for our members and we continue to work with Defra.
