Meet… Megan!

Megan is a 2020 graduate from Harper Adams, who was an Avara Scholar during her time at university. She is part of the next cohort of Food Heroes beginning their journey in the industry.

Bio: My name is Megan and I’m a graduate of Harper Adams University. I studied BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Animal Science and am beginning my role as a Technical Graduate with Avara Foods in September 2020.

In my free time I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, shooting and kayaking.

Get to know Megan…

I wanted to study at Harper because…

“I am passionate about British farming and love that Harper allow you to specialise and undertake an industrial placement year.”

A piece of advice you’d give to a prospective Food Hero is…

“to take every opportunity that presents itself to you and always be willing to try something new!”

In 10 years I want to…

“be working in the poultry industry and helping others to find their passion and place within the sector.”

One thing I would tell myself before I started Harper would be…

“to have confidence in yourself, you are heading in the right direction.”

What I offer the industry is…

“a fresh perspective and a great work ethic, I will turn my hand to anything.”

What the industry offers me…

“is a plethora of opportunities working alongside knowledgeable people who are the best in their field.”

Check out my YA Online Journal; I’ll be updating it as I move through my Graduate Programme, sharing my thoughts and experiences along the way!
