VISION 05
Skills as currency for opportunity:
A workforce with clear purpose secures good outcomes
Ambitions
Gateway to success:
Thinking across different Government departments, groups, and communities to shape a skills framework reflective of what we want UK food to achieve.
The fabric of our workforce:
Co-ordinating industry requirements with investment in evolving skills profiles. This is as much a cultural shift as it is a practical one that will shape the future of work in food production.
Good outcomes for all:
Driving productivity to further integrate businesses into regional economies to support local communities, generating job opportunities and driving investment.
Actions
Develop accessible pathways that support entry into the industry – a skilled workforce is the lynchpin for success in all facets of food production.
Where access to non-UK labour is necessary routes (Skilled Worker List and NOS) must be flexible.
Support for investment in technology that will in turn drive skills profiles.
Access to loans, schemes and training programmes that give businesses tools
to drive productivity themselves; this includes fixing the Apprenticeship Levy.
Establish an Agrifood Skills Taskforce to unite employers, associations and stakeholders, addressing shared challenges with timely and practical action.
