The British Poultry Council has teamed up with ResPublica to host a virtual roundtable to discuss the new trade deal with Europe and what this really means for food producers and consumers in the UK. The roundtable will take place on 4th February 2021 at 12:30pm. Registration is open.

The EU-UK ‘free trade and cooperation agreement’, which came into operation on January 1st, means no tariffs or quotas will be introduced on British food exports or European imports. While this sounds like good news for Britain’s food security, British businesses and consumers are seeking assurance from Government that a limitless amount of perishable food products will continue to flow freely, and that food will remain accessible and affordable for all. As the UK becomes a third country, this virtual roundtable will focus on the ways in which various trade barriers can be mitigated to avoid a food supply crisis, protect UK producers and ensure food on every table.

British Poultry Council Chief Executive, Richard Griffiths, said: “We are delighted to be working with ResPublica to highlight the challenges faced by British food producers post-Brexit and how the industry is adapting the changing circumstances.
