The Voice of the UK Poultry Meat Industry

Here at the British Poultry Council (BPC), we represent nearly 90% of the UK poultry meat sector (that’s chicken, turkey, duck, and goose). We’ve been the voice of the industry since 1967.

First and foremost, we’re a member-driven organisation and we have over 70 UK poultry companies covering primary breeding, agriculture, and processing.

We represent BPC members on topics such as antibiotic usage, campylobacter reduction, and bird welfare. Our stakeholders range from Government and regulatory bodies, through food and farming organisations, to consumer groups.

Poultry meat is the nation’s favourite and accounts for 47% of all the meat eaten in this country. The industry supports 79,000 jobs, and contributes £3.6billion to the UK GDP. It is our responsibility to produce nutritious, wholesome, and affordable food for British consumers.

Our industry remains at the forefront of innovation and technical knowledge, meaning that we are an ever-evolving sector, and we proactively drive best practice throughout the British poultry meat industry.
